Anybody ever used this Ding Guard?

Has anyone had any experience with this car door defender?

http://www.doordefender.com/howtoo.html

Might buy one if review is positive...

y5choi 06-06-2008 12:10 AM

no way. A ding looks better than that. Thing sticks out like a sore thumb!!

Even if i got it, i'd want to really test it out, and that can't be good! :)

It says its magnetic. I have Comfort Access and also I don't want to wipeout my credit and debit cards every time I put it on and off the car. It has a gap between the two tubes and the car can still be dinged there.

Krunk Man 06-06-2008 12:22 AM

That is horrible.

peanuto 06-06-2008 01:37 AM

it would be like painting Mike Tyson's face tattoo on top of the Mona Lisa

autoque 06-06-2008 02:27 AM

I think you're supposed to put it on after parking and off before driving.

Here's another one that does not use magnets. http://www.autoanything.com/garage-a...A1346A0A0.aspx
But this one doesn't have the theif deterrent feature like the magnetic one. So basically anyone can take it off and steal them.

Correct. ;) The real question is whether it will attract the ladies. :nanana:

They would certainly protect your doors from dings but I would be a little concerned about scratching the paint. No matter what babyass soft material they use on the backing, if any, if there is dirt on the paint, these things could cause some scratches. Kind of defeats the purpose, IMO.

I just try to park as far from other cars and shopping carts as possible.

You got me good!!:rofl: :rofl:

Yeah, actually come to think of it, I'd look like a paranoid and obsessive car geek putting that on and off.

x5mad 06-06-2008 08:11 AM

dont do it man! horrible

autoque 06-06-2008 09:06 AM

drod 06-06-2008 11:23 AM

that belongs on a Saturn!!

nynd 06-06-2008 03:53 PM

Lets put it this way - if the guys sees that on your car, he'll be more tempted to wack open the door and put a dent rather than a minor scratch....

Yeah, unfortunately things like that often also attract the retards that key vehicles and do other vandalism. Their goal seems to be to hurt people and make them feel bad and angry. So when they see something like that, which indicates the person places a lot of importance on their vehicle, it tends to draw them like flies to honey.

amcink 06-06-2008 04:43 PM

WTF!!!!! that is horrible - no way...

you know..you're absolutely right!!

I had a Landcruiser once with all the trimmings.. parked it at a shopping mall parking lot for about two hours... when i returned i noticed someone had keyed the entire rear tailgate section from left to right!! WTF??

of course i was furious!! but what are you going to do??

same thing happened to a female friend of mine not too long ago with her new car.... and you know how we sometimes get with new cars...(always wiping it down and whatnot...)

someone must have seen her doing this because after she was finished cleaning it....she returned to find a nice key mark running along the length of the vehicle!!

these people are nothing more than plain old idiot LOSERS!!!! :dunno:

GET A FRICKIN LIFE!!!

Right, right! It's a reverse psychology. It makes sense.

brian5 06-06-2008 08:36 PM

autoque,

Dude, I cannot believe that you seriously considered that door defender :loco:

I thought you were kidding. This is way more believable...

wow, what a product! i just found this thread and it made my day!

ljnlaw 06-22-2008 06:22 PM

My wife and kids are used to me parking away from everyone in busy lots, but then and again we'll come out of a store and find some ah@le parked right next to me when there are a million other spots in the lot...I just don't get it, sort of like:

- people high beaming you to move over when you're toting the kiddies in the right lane;
- waiving someone in front of you and then they thank you by driving 5mph;
- people who clog the passing lane when the right lane is empty;
- people who drive 50mph in the passing lane and then pretend you're not behind them...

...well you get the point.

SpeedTriple 06-22-2008 06:32 PM

If anything, other cars should be defending against the X5. The molding on our doors really stick out, almost like a barb, and can probably puncture metal. Not that I've done anything like that...cough, cough.

this would be ideal for like a garage thats tight on space... and if you have kids (which i dont because im still and not supposed to have them, but i know how it is for the folks)

P.S. No offense

I hate that, too. Park a half mile away from the damn store and theres either a Civic with a fart-can or a POS Golddiggermobile there. :rolleyes:
Its tough ;)
