Just added the roof spoiler on the G. Let me know what you guys think.

nice rides :)
IMHO
X needs an Aerokit
G needs to lose the roof spoiler

Monty04 06-13-2008 09:58 PM

Sorry, but I don't find anything appealing about the G at all.

Major04 06-14-2008 10:22 AM

One of my friends in TX just picked up a AW G37 sport coupe. Both rides are stunning.

As far as new sig, use the first one. Just PS the light poles out.

Another G fan on the board!

If they could only make the exhaust note on the G not sound like a bass kazoo they'd have something. Nice looking car, though...

Hope I don't end up hijacking this thread - apologies in advance.

First let me say I've been lurking these forums for quite some time and plan to buy and X5 SD next year. I would have bought one this year if we had gotten the twin turbo - I have a boat to tow and don't want the miserable mileage of the 4.8.

Back to the G, I bought a G35S the same year the 335 was introduced. Ironically (or not so ironically) that was the year the G's got thier makeover. Those two cars were on my short list after looking at Audi's, Lexus and even Acura's. In the end it boiled down to two things:

BMW's take it or leave it attitude, they just didn't care if I bought one or not. This could be different with the current state of the ecomony but I'm not sure. The dollar is so weak they may actually perfer we don't buy ;)

An equally equipt'ed 335 was $10K more. No doubt it's an awesome car but it's not $10K more car. I'm a gadget/tech nerd and there's just no competion to the G in that category (maybe there is now but there wasn't then).

Do I have any regrets? No. Would I have regretted a 335? No! They are both great cars and my opinion is it was a win/win situation.

Tim

Isn't the G a little bigger, about the size of a 5?

No it's on the narrower side--it's competitor is the 3 series. A guy at work work has a M35 and I've been in it--that is supposed to be the 5 series competitor. That didn't even seem all that wide to me either but then again I'm 6'3" and need elbow room (my e53 is perfect).

Nice pics. Any side pics of your X5? need to see the wheels;)

Who did you deal with at Westchester BMW?
