Just my luck.. Car won't start.

Never had a reliability problem on my 07 E70 until now. After loading up everything and the kid in, Car won't start, battery is dead, hopefully the probablm is that simple. Called roadside assistance and the agent was speaking jesse jackson style ebonics and I couldn't understand a word she said. Took her 25 mins just to get all my info. Anyways just venting, its extremely hot here in socal and we were all looking forward to sitting in a nice air conditioned car.

yeah all it needed was a jump. Talk about bad timing too. I guess more than 1 yr no problems is too much to ask from BMW. When I got the car started I inserted the keyfob on accident so we decided to drive get some nice cold drinks from inn-n-out and went to the local drive-in car wash (touchless) and enjoy the a/c while the battery charges.

I still dont think that locking or not locking your car should affect the battery at all. This is not a normal behavior. I would bring it to the dealership and have them look at where the drain is coming from.

Search and you will find the URBAN legend threads around here discussing this supposed battery behavior.....;)

That's why I was asking. More proof or otherwise.

BTW, I still think it's crap that it doesn't passive self-arm (but stay unlocked) if you forget to. ;)

I have never locked mine at home in 1.5 years, and zero battery issues.

Personally- I think this model's battery is overly sensitive especially if you have a tracker device intsalled. But it has a miriad of electronics compared to the previous E53.

Cheers,
