BMW Rear Bike Rack Pics

I just purchased and installed the BMW Rear Bike rack for the E70. So far so good. Very nice quality and very sturdy for two bikes. It will permanently stay attached for the summertime. The only thing that sucks is that the PDC is useless now and it beeps continuously every time I back up.

Nice! Can you tell us if you need to open the trunk, do you need to dismount the entire thing or just lower the vertical bar?

I don't know how bike racks usually work, but that must be one sturdy rear bumper to have 2 bikes' weights on it for any length of time.

Please do tell how easy/hard to access the trunk now...

It is very easy to access the trunk. On the right side you will notice a green button. Once pressed, the rack slides away from the car and it clears the trunk easily. The rack slide away loaded too. Once pushed back in its original position it locks securely. I will try to post new pictures tomorrow with the trunk open.

I don't think it's mounted to the plastic bumper cover, I think it goes right into the actual bumper.

That is correct. I took off the two plastic covers on the bumper and I screwed it in the holes that are used for towing the car.

Interesting. So you don't actually need the tow hitch for this? That is an excellent design!

It looks a great set up, thanks for posting. How much did you pay for it?
