Rear View Camera in 2007 X5?

Hi,

After 2 years in E90post forums (have a E92 335), I'm a member of this forum as well. Yesterday, I purchased a 2007 4.8i (first baby is on its way). Thank to you all for your contributions in this forum.

My 2007 4.8i has technology package (Nav, sat radio, bluetooth etc.) but it does not have rear view camera as far as I could see. Is this possible? I thought rear view camera is not a stand alone option but comes with Tech package. Any comments?

Thanks,

Ucan

um.. im pretty sure that the tech package includes everything that has to do with gadgets and what not. lol

if it doesnt then i guess u got ripped off

It does not sound right. The Technology Package should included the navigation system, rear view camera, and parking distance control. Are you sure you have a Tech Pack option? Or may be you just have the stand alone navigation system option only.

Good point. I have Navigation, PDC, Sat Radio. Does this mean I have Technology package or are these also stand alone options?

By the way, how can I change my username? I searched but could not find an answer. My username appeared as my email address which I don't want to share with everyone. Or, how could I delete my membership and re-enroll with another username?

Thanks guys.

Ucan

Early versions of the 2007 E70's did not have a rearview camera as part of the tech package - this is true with my car as well.

There was another thread on this forum about the availability of the rear view camera retrofit. The consensus was that the quality of the back-up camera was low enough that people didn't think it was worth it. Don't know if you can swap the camera for a better quality one.

This is not correct, I have the first production E70 and have the rear view camera as part of the tech package.

OK. Mine doesn't have it but it was a PGA tour car so perhaps that's the issue.

Although I don't think I would have used the camera often, I'm really curious to know why my car does not have one. It's not a PGA tour car or anything like that. A 06/2007 production, 4.8i with Navigation, SAT radio and PDC BUT without rear view camera.

Any other thoughts?

Are you sure that you have the Tech Package? It would include navigation, park distance control and the rear camera (no SAT radio). Each of these options can be order individually or as part of the Tech Package - It doesn't make such sense to order that way since the price of navigation and PDC together is the same as the price of the Tech Package, but it can be done. My guess is that your car does not have the package, but rather individually ordered navigation and PDC.

Most probably the first owner has ordered Navigation and PDC separately - although this does not make sense financially. There is all kind of people out there.

Anyway, thanks for your comments.
