Need help with an odor problem
I had some take out trays in the cargo area and some leaked. Since then I have this smell that just will not leave.
I shampoo the carpet, I put baking soda, odor removers, deodorants, all to avail. The odor is still there. Since I do not know what else to try, I would like to change the floor panel flap. Any ideas where I can get one? Thank you. |
did you check the roofline? especially with the anthracite roofliner that comes with sports package, it soaks up odors..
|
I do not have the sport package but anyway, the smell comes from the carpet, I just cannot get it out.
|
its probably under the carpet in the lining itself. Most dealers will offer auto detailing or subsidize to one. find a good detailer in your area. If not, go rent one of the wet vacs from your local hardware store and (those things that you pull back to clean the carpet, but with the upholstery attachment nozzle) and try to clean it that way.
|
Find a good detailer with a steam cleaner & extractor to thoroughly clean the carpet area. Then the odor will have to be broken down at the molecular level using a ozone generator. Check around for a detailer with this kind of equipment. Any "spray on" solution will only mask the odor and not eliminate it as you have found out.

Thank you guys, I will try. If not I will change the panel if possible.

Agree on the good interior detail...
In the meantime you might toss a couple pieces of Febreeze back there, or a lil' spray from an aerosol Febreeze. The off brand dryer freshner toss in things, work well, too. GL,mD http://www.febreze.com/en_US/home.do |

If you want to get serious, you could try some professional products, or find a detailer which uses a similar array and approach:

I did try Febreze but it goes away in 1/2 hour. I will try the heavy duty detailer approach if I can find one here in San Diego.
