USB Port

Inside the center console, as most of us know, is the place where you can plug in your ipod (actually, into both the USB and the other jack - not sure what that other jack is, assuming audio). Currently, I have a something like a 40GB ipod plugged in and it works great.

However, are there any other types of USB devices can be plugged into that jack and used? And is it strictly for audio music storage?

Has anyone tried different things to see what works?

Thanks...

Not sure if this is what you mean, but I use an 8 gig Lexar jumpdrive in the USB port to play my MP3s organized as "albums". The menu is likely not as clean as an ipod, but not unreasonable.
Since I don't have any other use for an Ipod and had an extra stick, this was a good solution for me.

yeh I just use a regular usb stick loaded up with mp3's
the idrive interface just ignores files on the stick that aren't mp3's so I can still use it for carrying files to/from work without worrying about it interfering with playing songs in the car

pretty cool I reckon

Have a 160gb harddisk plugged into the USB port...works perfect. (now I just need to get myself 160gb worth of MP3's )

This is great. Are you using a bus-powered hard drive? Does the car have enough power through the USB port to drive a bus-powered drive?

Thanks.

Yes, 2.5inch external disk which gets it's power over the USB. Works like a charm (only worry I had was that it keeps power on the disk even after you switch off the car but am assuming the battery can handle the little juice this thing requires).

Unicode Support

When using the USB drive, does I-Drive support unicode character in other languages? Will I-Drive read the MP3 tags?

If I-Drive does all that, this is an great feature.
