E70 LPG Conversion Invalidate Warranty?
Hi
Given that 97RON Super Unleaded is now over £1.25/ltr in the UK and LPG only £0.50/ltr are there any authorised LPG conversions in the UK that BMW approve and are happy with regarding your BMW warranty. I'm currently presuming not, but I'm keen to understand if this is possible. Cheers Bob |
i think BMW will make some problem about the warranty. Always when they see their are modifications made on the engine. We have a 745,525 and a x5 3.0 on LPG and they never look happy ;) although, never had an engine problem.
But i'm afraid it is'nt possible to build a lpg in your new x5 because of the direct injection. |
Thanks Brad.
I was aware of the fuel costs before I bought the car, so not a major issue. I just wanted to explore options. I wasn't aware that the Direct Injection prevented LPG Conversions. Is this definetly the case? If so it will probably hit the residuals of 4.8i models once they are 4-5 years old. Bob |
My LPG dealer told me that manufacturers of LPG systems are working on the direct injection engines.
A bit difficult to explain, but the engine would be running 90 % on LPG and 10 petrol. That means you will always be burning normal petrol too. The actual LPG systems only need petrol to start. Too bad their is not much support for LPG although it's much better for the environment. |
Hi,
Did you end up installing lpg in your e70? If yes, how is it working? I am considering putting it in my 4.8i. Pls let me know. |
