Flash Light
Hi guys,
According to the manual, the flash light is inside the center console. But I could not locate it. I thought it could be behind a panel or something which I could not find. Do you have any idea? Thanks. |
check the glove box. if not there then check the rear compartments.
|
The guys that prep the new cars usually steal the flashlight. tell your salesperson to replace it. the salesperson should have checked that it was there when they delivered the vehicle. this is a common occurance.

was in my glovebox.

I didn't even know we were supposed to get one, but it was in the center console in a little holder in the front.

Sure here you go. The USB, 12v, and flashlight holder are all towards the front of the center console.
|
Does anyone know what that protruding piece to the right of USB port is for? It looks like a receptor of some sort.
|
Heheh.. I didn't even pay any attention to that. It almost looks like an SD card would fit in there. I'll have to look at it when I get home. I still haven't finished reading the manual. <grin>
|
I noticed that part the other day as well. My hypothesis is that it's an air duct. The center console is cool when I have the AC on and I didn't see any possible air duct other than this part. See the small slot on the part facing the interior.
|
Ya that makes sense. In case you have something running in there it can be kept cool!
|
the receptacle at the right is for the phone snap-in adaptor carrier. See below:
Attachment 17393 Attachment 17394 The pivoting arm has a catch on it that locks into the hole on the underside of the protrusion. |

However, I checked the hole and could feel the cold air blowing out of it. On the other hand, it does not look like an air duct at all. Interesting... |

Thanks. My rubber mat at the bottom of the centre console doesn't have that space for a flashlight. |

I have a '07' 3.0 and it came with a flashlight
|
Probably the post I read applied to older models of X5s then. Thanks.
|
Anyway, I purchased a Fenix L1D-CE flashlight. The missing BMW flashlight cost me $41 :)
|
Probably true and that's why they come up for sale on ebay every so often for a quarter of their retail price.

Do you know the part number of your flashlight and can you post a photo of the unit? The p/n should be inside the barrel when you remove the battery.
Never mind, got it. Quote:

I didnt get one... I should ask for it.. '10 still get these?

You'll probably have to buy it. There was an SIB stating that they are no longer included so the dealer doesn't have to give them to you for free.
|
boo... they are cutting back on a lot of things. :(
|
For the 2010, where is the flashlight suppose to be? Underneath the cargo floor in the rear? Cause I see an empty spot next to the front tow hitch adapter.

Have you read this thread?

He probably couldn't read the thread cause he's in the dark without
the elcheapo BMW flashlight ....
come on guys .. buy a decent flashlight and stick it near a decent first aid kit in the rear ... that way we can help mend the wounds of those people that: 1) throw stuff at us due to SUV induced road rage 2) deliberably bang our doors at supermarket carparks 3) coin our cars at night because maccas aint paying them enough for a 1971 nissan datsun let alone an X70  |
What is a "maccas"?
|
Actually I think the BMW LED flashlights are quite good. The titanium ones that are made by Inova for BMW are even better.
