How stiff/bouncy is Sport Pkg with 214 wheels?
 

How stiff or bouncy is an E70 X5 with Sport Pkg and style 214 wheels? I'm worried about the comfort for a toddler who will be riding in the back of the car. I can compare to either G35 Coupe with sport suspension and 19" wheels or to Xterra S with its standard leafspring suspension in the rear. Any hints? Thanks!

I have a Supercharged Range Rover Sport and the back seats are terrible. My wife, who is 8.5 months pregnant sat in the back of my X5 today with the 20" wheels and sports package and she loved the ride. She didn't want to get out of the car. :)

Are you talking about OEM runflats? I upgraded myself to non runflats and a few weeks ago my pregnant wife on strict bedrest said the ride was great back there while lying down. Now the twins are riding back there and probably don't feel a thing. I can tell you the bumps are a ton better with non runflats. I keep sport-mode off because it's supposed to stiffen suspension, though I can't tell a damn difference with it on or off.

Yes sir, I have the Dunlop OEM runflat tires.

I too just got my 4.8i X5 w/sport package and 20" wheels with the OEM RF's 2 weeks ago and it rides great!!i was really worried about the ride too but honestly it rides really smooth....I've had 19" Volk wheels w/ Michelin Pilot Sports on a Lexus I used to own and the ride was not nearly as nice as with the X5. My wife also is 7.5 months pregnant and no complaints there either!! (Always a good thing!!:)

Thanks for your opinions guys! What I'm going to do is to sit in the back and ask the sales guy to drive over some bumps. That should give me the best benchmark possible :)

Being a very young dad :) too, I think the ride with the 214 wheels and sport package is fine. It is firm and you feel bumps, but it is comfortable and solid. No complaints from my now 2 year old baby!! :)

I just came back from a dealer and I did just what I said, I sat in the back and asked him to drive over the bumps. It was comfortable, it really was!

Another little thing that impressed me quite a bit was that CD player as well as iPod interface were able to display Cyrillic characters in track and artist names. Mercedes, Infiniti, and Porsche failed that test. They were able to play tracks but they displayed blanks or garbage instead of titles.

I have 4.8 sports package with 20" wheels. I feel more harsh and bumpy when i;m riding in the back, compared when i am sitting at the front seats (driver and passenger front).

it's quite heavy and stiff going over bumps but good roads it shouldn't be bad

Get the Cayenne with Air Suspension at comfort mode, I think its the softest ride ever and the best handling SUV in the whole world.
