PDC warning tone off???
How do I turn off the park distance warning tone when reversing towing a
boat??? The alarm tone is driving me nuts. |
you and everybody else, possibly including the BMW engineers, are still trying to figure this out.
I wish there was a way to at least lower it like you can with the navigation voice while it's speaking. |
I don't have an E70, my experience was with an E53, so this may not apply, but there are a variety of options here.
1) Push the PDC button after putting it in reverse. The PDC system is deactivated. 2) Use the BMW wiring harness for trailer lighting. On the E53, it disables the rear PDC so the trailer doesn't set off the PDC alarm 3) The E70 manual shows a screen to adjust warning tones, including PDC. This applies only to vehicles with a single drive, which I gather means no changer. Perhaps RH71 can fill me in on why this doesn't work for him. |

I had the BMW wiring harness installed along with the trailer hitch so are you saying it should automatically disable the PDC when the trailer is hooked up? [it doesnt] |
I have never used a reverse camera, so maybe I am missing something. I see the benefit of using it when you are lining up the hitch ball for hook up, but why would you want the camera on when you are backing up the trailer? Doesn't the trailer block your rear view?
On the E53, when the OEM wiring harness was installed for trailer lighting, plugging in a trailer disabled the rear PDC, to avoid the incessant beeping. You may have answered this in your response, as it sounds like the PDC and rear camera are wired together, so perhaps that feature is disabled on the E70. Did the PDC volume adjustment shown in the owner's manual work? |
