Windshield Washer Jet Spray Poor Performance
I was wondering if anyone out there has this similar problem?
When I'm at a complete stand still and I spray the windshield the washer fluid sprays out mediocrity. I think it barely spray's out past mid-level of the windshield and it's very uneven. Now, when I'm at highway speeds the performance of the spray is even worse. Spraying out very low on the windshield and about useless. I've checked the fluid reservoir and I have plenty of washer fluid in there. When I do the rear windshield the spray comes out PERFECTLY with a nice even distribution. |
Maybe you have a bad pump or the line may be kinked somewhere.

try cleaning the nozzles? I can't say I've paid attention to the spray height but I definitely won't say it was noticeably weak.
|
did you get the "outdoor" package? i have it with the headlight washers and they gush out like crazy. no complaints here.

Hey there,
I have the same issue with the washer fluid spray...did you get it fixed? What was the problem? |
I'm living with it for now...just havent had time to take it to the dealer. I'm getting some work done to it in a couple of weeks and will have them look at it then.

I'm having this same problem for the second time. The first time the dealer replaced the pump. It worked for a few uses and after that the stream just got weaker and weaker and now it barely trickles water at the bottom of the windshield.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I've checked and cleaned the nozzles with a pin and made sure there was plenty of water in the reservoir, but still no luck. |
Probably frozen water in your lines. Move to Southern Arizona.

check the nozzle hasn't seperated from the pipe. Lift the bonnet and press the washer stalk and see whether you get a dump of water into the engine bay. If so simply click the nozzle back into the supply pipe, and then tie a cable wrap around it. What happens is the water in the supply pipe freezes and then pops the nozzle off the end. Putting a cable tie around it prevents this.

I have noticed the spray is much less than my 07. At full spray it reaches just under 1/2 the windshield. I know it is not frozen lines
Because my garage is 50 degrees and the lines cannot be frozen |

Having the same issue anyone figure out the root cause?
Thanks |
I vote weak pump. On my E60, I replaced a dead pump with an aftermarket version. The result was a weak spray pattern. Replace with OE pump as a first step.
