Spiffy new X5 - can I turn off the easy access?

Just picked up my spiffy new X5. I've been reading and playing.

I can't figure out how to turn off the easy access for the steering wheel. It gets in my way (I'm tall). Can I shut that thing off so the wheel doesn't move when I turn the car off?

you want the steering wheel to stay put? don't think you can turn the auto adjust function off so it doesn't move out of your way automatically???

i;m confused..

Put it in the default mode, which is moving it up and in maximum.

Correct. On the E53, you could turn off the steering wheel move when the car was turned off. I had hoped the E70 did it also.

Some "brilliant" engineer decided that X5 owners cannot turn the steering column easy access function off. So lame. You can do it though, in the 7, 6 and 5 Series. Lucky E70ers!!!

At least they let us turn off the passenger mirror shifting down when going into reverse. It's really puzzling why they let us do some things and not others, and in some models and not others. It's not like these are steps forward. Vent-on at startup anyone?

I know they are probably different design teams but they should all have some kind of knowledge of what previous models have done.

my fob setting has the wheel at the default position and thus does not move at all; my wife's fob setting has the wheel considerably lower ...when i use her fob to park the truck the wheel does not move. in other words it accomplished what the OP sought. i will look around to see "how" i did this.

Thank you, much appreciated.
