E70 Wheel Style 239
Looking for some suggestions, I really like the style 239 wheels however , one major problem. From what I have found, Dunlop seems to be the only manufacturer making tires for these wheels (10x21 front and 11.5x21 rear) and they only make one tire, the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx RunOnFlat. This wouldn’t be such a big deal if the tires were not $550 front/$578 rear, just as expensive as the wheels. I imagine these tires will only last about 12 months, if that. So that means in another year shell out another 2, 500 on TIRES. That’s nuts! I also prefer a non runflat tire so the ride is not so rough and noisey. Any ideas on other good tire manufacturers that I can try that will possibly make a tire for these wheels? Tire Size recommended for 239 wheels 285/35R21 front 325/30R21. I believe wheel styles 128 and 215 are the same size as the 239’s, for those that have upgraded to any of these styles any suggestions?

I've also ordered the 239 wheels...
Indeed for the moment I believe the dunlop's you mentioned are the only possible tyres... But since these tires will get a higher demand, also other manufacturers will offer these dimensions within one year... An yes, beauty isn't free... |
OEM 20" Staggered Wheels/Tires
I have 20" staggered wheels/tires on a 2005 X5 with new Toyo tires (from 4.8). Would anyone like to trade me before I turn in my lease? I paid for them upfront so I am pissing them away. If you have new tires and want to trade them for mine and some $$$$ let me know.

Hi bigd00755
While Dunlop is the only manufacture which produces a tyre size of 285/35R21 front 325/30R21 rear, they offer them in both run flat and non run flat. I had my 21’’ spider spoke wheels installed at delivery and because of that the tyres supplied were run flats. Whenever my tyres need replacing I am going to try out the non run flat tyres (325/30ZR21 SP SPTMAXX XL MFS 1) and also keep a spare for the front & rear in my garage as these tyres are hard to come by. I can not really appreciate the “advantages” of run flats so I will put a space saver in the cargo area. So far I have found the ride pretty smooth in comparison to my E53 Sport with 19’s which was very choppy and harsh (Adaptive Drive & Rear air suspension does help). Regards Enda |
How many miles u got on em?
|
Being limited to one tire is quite a buzz kill, but honestly, so far, I have zero complaints with the Dunlops. I've only managed to get about 6k miles on them so far and from what I can tell, they will last for quite a while. The noise is so-so. They are actually kind of weird. The running aspect of the tires aren't loud at all, but the noise comes from them slapping on small imperfections in the road, if that makes sense. For instance, when I drive over the little lip when entering my garage, they sound like a basketball. Or when driving over the joists in bridges. Otherwise, they really aren't an issue for me. I actually think I hear more wind noise than tire noise...

Are these the same as the M wheels? They look very similar to the wheels I have on my 09 X5 M Sport.

I'm also in love with this 239 style, but a set of tire for this is pretty high. I could manage to find a great deal for 239 around $3,099 but still CAN'T find good deal on Dunlop.
Also I had a very bad experience with Dunlop Sport Max 9000 on my E39. That time I use 19" Hartge and the stupid tire blow up due to manufacture defect. Yes, I got a free replacement from them after investigation but I almost kill myself at high speed. |
