Interesting new product, mObridge, anyone heard of it?!
Hey all, I came across a product that sounds very interesting and may allow us to add XM as a direct plug-n-play with channel integration and control....I've been an XM fan since day 1 and although Sirius is OK, and does have NFL Network (and is free for a year), I'd really rather have XM if I had a choice....Actually I would like to have both running at the same time but up unitl I saw this, there was no way to do that unless you run an Aux line from a portable XM unit like the Pioneer Inno, which I am doing currently, albeit with about a 4dB sound level loss, or use XM Direct to convert the Sirius tuner to XM...I also contacted both XM and Sirius about the merger that has been approved and will soon be official but they say there are no packages currently in progress that will offer the complete line ups of both streams but rather you will be able to pick "select" channels from either of the other one to add to your current subscription. Of course these "select" channels are just that and are not all the current channels offered be either....Anyway, I didn't see anywhere that said if this product adds a connection or replaces a current one, possibly losing the Aux interface or factory installed Sirius feed....Does anyone have any info on this or anything to add??
Thanks!! http://www.mobridgeinc.com/ |
I smell a vendor in sheep's clothing...

Most of the stuff I've read, vis a vis the current "merge", suggest
a slap in head unit that will get "both" within a year. The menu of both offerings will be pared down considerably, asap, where there is overlap and/or thinly listened segments. Meanwhile, the Street views both as a long haul, med-high risk cash burner with a much less than needed fan base, imo. Disclosure: I hold a truck load of SIRI, fortunately scooped up at about a buck, way back when...my stop is getting close though. What dogs these companies are. Mel is whistling, but neither co. is making a penny and it's a long row to hoe, to anything near profitability. |
quick Q though, my car has sirius built in. Anyone knows what is gonna happen?

Mel was on Stern Wednesday AM. He said they would be sharing some music channels between the two services, but the two services would remain unique for at least 10 years due to the equipment differences.
He said they will have a dual radio soon but also said part of the reason for maintaining two services was all the cars already setup for one of the two. In 10 years they hope to launch new satellites that support both services. I caught it later in the conversation, so I'm still not sure what will happen with the NFL, MLB, Stern, etc as far as both services. The entire thing leaves me scratching my head as to why they did this. As a previous poster noted, they will continue to burn cash. |
Hey all, I can tell you that I am the farthest from a vendor as you can get!! I have just been doing numerous internet searches and trying to find a solution to have both XM and Sirius without having to lose either one...I am going to call the manufacturer today and if I get any info I'll let everyone know!
Thanks! |

Regardless, I think the merger should be good. I am certain we'll have the same mainstream channels and add to it Stern. They may not be called squizz (sp?) or 66 raw, but they will have the same music!! I just hope they keep UPOP and bring back the world channel! |
I just spoke with the product developer for this product and he said that it is on the bench right now and that it won't be available until near the end of the year. He also said it will replace the existing Sirius receiver that is already installed if you have that as a factory installed option and not allow you to run both systems at the same time. He did say that they would be working on a single unit in the future that will allow both, but that it was a ways off. He didn't give me a price but said it would be in the range of other similar units available now. (I'm guessing under 500). Anyway, just thought I'd let everyone know!
