All settings reset after holding down the remote button
 

Hi All,

Today I pressed and held the center remote button thinking it would close all open windows. First, it did not do anything. Second, I found out that all the car settings returned to factory defaults. Units, AC settings, audi settings were all changed.

Does this normal? Any idea?

US version X5 will not close windows by holding that button, for a liability issue, or otherwise.

I don't know if it's supposed to return the setting to factory default though.

are you sure you werent using the second key?

closing all windows = comfort access touching the door handle only (they want you to physically be at the vehicle to close them)

Oh, OK thanks. I will try it. The vehicle to reset all settings does not make sense though.

As X5FX said, the "reset" thing sounds like you may have been using the other key. Each key has its own settings (radio presets, etc....). Try each key and see if one returns to your custom settings. Good luck.

I always use the same key and customer settings were stored for the same key that I used. Somehow, pressing and holding center button (a few times) reset all settings.

That's what I thought also. I was under the impression that holding the remote will only open all the windows and moonroof but you have to manually close them.

Just noticed this: in addition to the settings being reset, my stored addresses under navigation have changed. For example, the house number for my home address has changed to another nonsense number, the intersection street of my work address has disappeared etc. This is really strange.

These are all easy fixes but I'm curious to know what had caused these changes. Pressing and holding lock button on the remote a few times? Really interesting.
