I have an 07 August build and very happy with it. I've been to a dealer a few times for regular maintenance and software upgrade to fix minor issues.

If a pre owned 07 is your only option, just stay away from the 1st build 07. I'm sure there's a way to determine based on the VIN.

Good luck.

The warranty really does cover everything. Just buy it, drive it, have fun with it, it it brakes let em fix it. Other than that don't worry about it.

Yes, but only for year, check this out, http://edbmw.com/main/edtracking.html, toward to the end of the page.

I thought you can find the build date through iDrive.

So even if i get a 07 new build date...i don't have to worry about anything becuase everything is coverd for 4 years or 50k, right? If thats the case then who cares? something goes wrong with the car and i take it in the shop and get a nice lil 335 for a couple days?....

^ they don't always find the problem the first time. Many stories of people going back 4 or 5 times for the same problem or differing problems that pop up one after another. I'd get frustrated at that even if it were free fixes.
