The "unpositioned" wiper arm and blade always catch my attention when I look at the right-hand-side mirror. But it seems nothing I can do except re-position it by my hand. (like what you do to your X5.) My guess is the passenger side blade is too long. The friction between the blade and windshield makes the problem, and the blade is soft and flexable. If possible, I will pick a shorter blade, may be 2 or 3 cm shorter, for the passenger side wiper next time. However, I don't see any compatible wiper blade in the shops. |
While many have this issue...it is _NOT_ normal. It was bugging me too having the passenger wiper sit above the dot matrix pattern. It did not do this when the vehicle was first delivered.
I mentioned it to my service advisor today while in for a software update and one of the techs fixed the issue by loosening the torque nut on the wiper, rotating the arm down slighlty, and retightening. It took him all of 2 minutes to complete. So if this is bugging you, I would stop in and have your dealer adjust it. |
I took notice of this again the other day. It does sit higher than you'd like to see but there is no whitespace gap that you can see through - it's just above the black for me.

Hard to tell from the pictures, but I think yours is better placed than mine was before the adjustment. To me the important thing is whether any part of the blade is sitting above the dot matrix pattern. If so, then part or all of the blade can be seen from the inside looking straight on...which is definitely annoying. Before it was adjusted, the whole blade was above the dot matrix leaving a small (but very noticeable) gap...similar to the OP.
