Bluetooth and un-supported phone, idrive screen flicker

Just took delivery of a 2008 3.0si three weeks ago. Upon delivery and the training deal the serivce guy linked my att motorola razr v3 (blue one) and everything seemed to work regarding the address book sync, making calls, getting calls, etc. After three days of the car in our possession the idrive screen upon startup would just flicker with a white bar in the middle.

Took the car in for service on a friday night just as they were closing. Luckily got a loaner x5. Got a call that following tuesday that the car was ready and just needed to be reset whatever. They couldn't find any faults in the electronics and being that the car only had around 350 miles on it. They could only deduce that it 'MAY' have been caused by my cell phone. The motorola that i use is not on the bluetooth approved tested list. There is no guarantee that any bluetooth phone would work. Only the iphone 3g, blackjack something and two others are listed on bmwusa.com.

Anyone have a similar problem with the idrive, bluetooth, and un-supported phones?

Don't be paying too much attention to that stupid list of BT supported phones. It's just another way for BMW to blame an issue to another source rather than their own. BMW has a short list of un-supported phones because they're using cheap and older BT modules. Of course, they will do testing on some phones due to pressure from the phone manufacturers, i.e. Apple. Newer and better BT modules will pair well with any phones without any syc issues, etc. so there's no need to test every single phone. Compatibility is based on the BT supported profiles such as :HSP, HFP 1.5, OPP, SAP, PBA, A2DP, AVRC, HID, PAN
version 2.0 + EDR etc.

I used to have the same exact phone and I'd say it was one of the best phones that I've used that really paired well with the E70 BT. Pairing a BT enabled phone only affects wireless connection between the phone and the BT module of the E70. It does not have anything to do with the idrive. So it's so stupid for the SA to even mention that the problem "may" be due to the phone.
