Rotate and Balance Runflats?
 

I'm at around 11k mi. now and I'm far overdue for a rotate and balance. Anyone have this done before on their X5 from a tireshop or costco or something?

The Hunter Road Force machine will give you the best balance. Find a shop that will road force balance. Most BMW dealers have this machine...

Note that BMW advises against rotating the tires as they feel it compromises handling of the vehicle.

They feel that after rotation, the wear pattern no longer "fits" the wheel the tire is on and that traction will be adversely affected until the tire again "wears into" the correct pattern for the wheel/vehicle position.

Are you saying from side to side, or front to back. I've heard not to rotate side to side, but never front to back...

BMW recommends no rotation of tires from any position to another at all.

Now, it's up to you as to whether or not you believe what they recommend, or follow it...

This is correct. When I asked to have my tires rotated on my X5 a few thousand miles back, the dealer refused to do it saying it would have adverse effects and that the suspension is tuned in a way that tire rotation is not necessary.

Ditto here. I never rotate tires on BMWs.

Same here. No tire rotation. Even my E53 went 50K miles without any tire rotation and the tires were fine.

Are we concluding that it's not necessary because the vehicle adjusts itself so that it does wear evenly, or it's just not recommended because riding on the now-non-worn part will effect handling?
