my new Black X5

5 Attachment(s)
My X5 M package finally arrived:
some extra specs:
-Hartge Carbon Mirrors
-V8 original BMW exhaust
-Adaptive Drive
-21" original Black wheels

brian5 10-07-2008 07:12 AM

That looks like one mean car now!

By "mean", I'm meaning "impressive", "you'd better get out of my way", etc.

Never been completely sold on the black wheels but they do work well with a black car and the painted bumpers of the M package. Not too sure if the fairer sex would be that keen on this look though :)

cmyX6go 10-07-2008 07:15 AM

I agree with Brian, that is one mean looking X. Congrats :)

Michelle 10-07-2008 07:22 AM

It looks soooooooo much better without all of that plastic!

Black rims = :hawt:

brian5 10-07-2008 07:24 AM

Hey, I shoulda guessed that that would happen. !ouch:

I comment on the fairer sex probably not liking it so much and then our two primary representatives chime in that they do like it :D

LOL I've been a fan of black rims since I saw them on Justin's X5 at the Tri-State Meet earlier this year.

g-unit 10-07-2008 08:11 AM

very nice. mine arrives friday - seems kind of plain next to yours lol

Pentium 10-07-2008 09:06 AM

very very nice!

Congrats!

rh71 10-07-2008 09:34 AM

it looks nice, but I bet it looks even better in person.

BTW, those tires look somewhat worn already, about how many miles on them?

I said the X looks mean. The black wouldn't be my choice, but they do work. You can't win Brian

They V8 oval exhaust pipes complete the look at the rear of the E70. Had you much hassle from BMW putting them on? How much?

I hope you get as much pleasure out of your SD as I do with mine and that she is lucky:cool: .

carbonman 10-07-2008 10:59 AM

Tire wear?

1 Attachment(s)
Thanks for all your nice comments.
And I must say in the flesh it's even more aggressive looking. And lots of people look up when I drive by. As for the tires, I drove it for 2800 km and a bit sporty so the little hears on the tires are already gone.
My wife absolutely hates the black rims but my friends like it and the kids are happy with there new BMW carseats!
The X drives so great that I put my 2007 Volvo C70 T5 up for sale (see attach)
As for the exhaust BMW had no trouble at all for the exhaust because it's now an official accessoire on there list and it was installed for +/-400 euro. Installing a Hartge exhaust was a real trouble for them
I have an Iphone adapter in order and even plan to have the doorpanels in alu with BMW logo. Does anyone have these?

autoque 10-07-2008 11:10 AM

^Great looking X! Black wheels must hide brake dust really well, though I'm not a fan of black wheels...

nynd 10-07-2008 11:33 AM

Reminds me of a "Knight Rider" version of the X5 - LOL!

Nice bimmer!

Sounds good, I been wanting to add the oval tail pipes for a while now. I cant find the 2008 accessory list, do you the product code for the exhaust accessory? Thanks again carbonman

Kind Regards

So is it 400 Euros for the exhaust-tips including the installation cost ? Would definitely be interested in that !

Last question : the exhaust tips appears a bit tilted, I mean not aligned to the top of the bumper. Is this the case or is it just the picture ?

tks

Sam

AUU 555 10-07-2008 03:37 PM

That is one of the best x5's looking on earth !!

How much does the carbon covers cost you ?

davidy1688 10-07-2008 07:23 PM

WOW!!!!!!!! So NICE!!!! :2thumbs:

carbonman 10-08-2008 03:05 AM

some info

The exhaust was installed for 389 euro included parts and installation. The exhaust was only in stock since 3 weeks ago and was an addition to the accesserylist from BMW. Just ask your dealer. They are perfect installed and the tilted idea is only in the pictures. As for the carbon mirror cases they cost me 770 euro plus tax. That a lot of money but because I make thing in carbon for a hobby I know these one are worth it! I will post detail pictures later to show that they are absolutely perfect. I think there must be about 20 layers of varnish to receive that result

I must say that is not trough. because the rims become matt and a bit brown when there is brake dust on them. I still looks dirty so do silver ones

Naish 10-08-2008 04:08 AM

Very nice ride...

My personal flavour isn't with the M-bumpers but hey, everybody's taste is different. I prefer the sport package (which i have) with the aero kit (which is on the wish list)...

From Belgium so maybe we will meet on the road... What region are you from?

Personalised plate??? Nice... I was also considering it and still ...

swesson 10-08-2008 11:50 AM

Very nice! I like the M package.

filippos 10-08-2008 01:13 PM

ow.. very nice!

But i dont understand, I also wanted to install those tail tips on my SD and everywhere i asked everybody was telling me that it wasnt possible to install 4.8i original exhaust.. Even my dealer told me something about having problems because one is petrol and mine is diesel?? Anyway glad you did it cause maybe you have a part number or a contact of your dealer to ask some info... it would be appreciated!

thanks,

p.s. Great deal for only 400euro.. i spent 1000 on Hartge, and these are nicer!

jeep 10-08-2008 01:15 PM

Awesome ride, love the tailpipe tips

StanF18 10-08-2008 01:27 PM

Very aggressive-looking E70! You must feel like the TERMINATOR when you're driving that thing . Congrats.

I personally would not go for black rims, but I know that some guys are into that look.

Hans_ACS 10-08-2008 01:48 PM

Nice car ! Congratz and greets from fortisless-belgium :)

The partsnumbers for the exhaust as stated on the invoice:
18302417646
18302417647
'chrome exhaust 4,8i tips'
hope this helps some of you

filippos 10-09-2008 04:47 AM

thanks a lot,

I will look into it today..

I just checked my E70 4.8i. You are right, carbonman's exhaust tips are tilted. They should not be. I guess that it would not be trivial for that to be fixed now.

Thanks, yes after looking at them you maybe right. After 10.000km I will tell my dealer to fix it.
Does anyone know how much Km or miles you can run with 21" because my front tires already lost 1,5mm in 3000km:dunno:

ZORISLAV 10-09-2008 09:50 AM

18302417646
18302417647
this parts number does not exist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I checked all dealers in Croatia!

Sweet and aggressive looking ride. I like the Hartge carbon mirrors. Did you order these with Van Den Broeck in Brussels?

The only thing I'm not a fan of is the wood trim. Piano Black would have made it perfect.

Enjoy your car.

Best regards,

M

Yes, they come from VDB Brussels importer Hartge. And for the trims, I will replace them later with CF panels Schnitzer... Too bad there isn't piano black for the X5. thanks for the comment

M-individual 10-27-2008 09:02 AM

CF trim from ACS will look nice. Are you sure that the piano black trim can't be obtained through the Individual line for the X5? They would go nice with the colour interior you have and would complement the black look you have on the outside.

Cheers,

M

M-individual 10-27-2008 09:26 AM

I checked and it is possible to get piano black trim for the X5 through Individual (code on Belgian car configurator is XE7 for this option).

Best regards,

M

Watch the bonnet for chips and park well away from anyone else.

Do you know if the dealer had to cut off the original tips and then weld the new ones ?

tks,

Sam

Hi

The BMW dealers here in Ireland are having problems with the part numbers supplied by Carbonman for the 4.8i exhaust tips, that is they do not exist. I know one or two other members on X5world have encountered the same issue. Any help to overcome this would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Hi I've contacted my dealer and thats what they gave me and that are also the numbers on my invoice. So for all of you, so sorry if the numbers are not correct, it's not intentionally perhaps there is a different system in Belgium. The original exhausts were cut off and the new where bolted on (not welded)
It was done by BMW Beelen St Truiden Belgium
greets
