I would just live with it (I already live with worse) but if you feel like you cant a body shop can repaint that for around 400 or so dollars

I forgot what it's called but it is basically scratch remover that use wet sand tech. It is small box and you can buy it from pepboys or autozone.

I had long and deep scratch that probably from somebody's key in my S-class and I used it and it is gone. The body shop said $1500 to paint it since it is nano paint. So I spent about $20 at pepboys and tried it.

It really works in deep scratch. It has instruction in it. Oh, the box has bmw picture and it is imported from Germany.

When you do the wet sanding, try to give enough water plus little at a time.

What about buying and trying the BMW's own touch-up paint pen? I bought one myself just in case, but never used it before, so can't say how good it is, but since it's BMW's own product, I was confident the color would match and the quality at least not too shabby.

If it shows the metal, and you live in an area where there's much salt on the road, then it's possible, though my old Dodge which has a crushed side over the painted body showing metals and stuff is still rust-free even after about 2 years and I live on snowbelt. So I think it's going to be fine even if you leave it be.

Isn't the bumper just fiberglass? I doubt it will rust.

I can look into that too but I'm worried about making it worse. I've used touch-up paint before on another vehicle but didn't know anything about it and it left a nice line that I didn't know I had to sand even. I have no desire to use sandpaper on this thing without proper experience.

I can't believe some people charge hundreds of dollars for repairing as stated... isn't it only an hour or two of labor? I don't think I'll need brand new paint here... hopefully it will be less than $100 or so.

I know.. hundreds of dollars sounds like a rip-off.

I saw the pics again and I gotta tell ya, it really doesn't look that bad at all. Even a cheap alternative should be able to repair it with minimal side-effect IMO.

well I hit the service dept. and their detailer said they can get rid of 70% of it, which they did in 5 mins and I gave them $20. The scratches are only slightly visible from an angle now and the surface is as smooth as original. I bought some Scratch X to try and work it out completely later.

They had to touch-up paint the lower mark and now there's a difference in color... they said it should even out when it dries up but I don't really see that to be the case (after a couple hours) without buffing it further - but dried paint doesn't work that way does it?

Glad it worked out. I've gotten a few so far that were all buffed out. There is nothing more irritating than marks and scratches from other peoples stupidity. It's one thing if you do it yourself, but when someone else does it...:gun:
