E70 Please insert Navigation DVD error
 

Hi

Only had my X5 E70 for 6 months and now getting 'Please insert Navigation DVD error' - the Navigation does not work at all!

The Navigation DVD is 07-2 Professional, and it is totally clean without any scratches.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or know if it is a known problem or DVD reader problem? Is there a possible fix without taking it the dealer under warranty?

I had a similar if not identical problem and finally gave up and took into dealer. They tried all the same tricks that I did and spent two days trying to fix the obvious and finally relented and put in new DVD drive (under warranty). Maybe you've got the same problem, i.e. defective DVD drive

What is the warranty period for the nav dvd? Is it covered under the regular 4 year /50k miles warranty?

AFAIK, the Nav dvd drive is covered for the full 4 yr/50K mile period?

I just had my DVD drive replaced for the same reason.

Thanks - I will take it in to the dealer and it should be covered under the remaining 2yr warranty.
