Cabin and engine air filter

Do you guys know how often the cabin carbon airfilter and the engine air filter has to be changed?

I've been to the dealer for a number of times for different reasons (idrive upgrade, alignment, winter tires, etc) and somehow I doubt that the dealer has changed the filters without telling me.

thanks

Y5choi, I went to my dealer recently and they told me based on a fob read that the filter needed changing. My 07 3.0 has 50+ kms and was an Oct 2006 build and I think this was the first filter replacement.

Is the filter covered under the maintenance program?

Wow, only at 50km they changed the filter? or do you mean 5,000km?

You mean the engine intake filter right? not the interior cabin filter?

I don't know the maintenance specs for the e70, but I change the engine air filter ever 15,000 miles and the air cabin micro-filter every 30,000 in my e53.

I change them when they are dirty... unlike an oil filter those filters can be visually inspected.

Yeah, environment factors are different for everyone so visual inspection does make sense; the manual does not have any info on how to change or how to access these air filters (both for engine and for interior) so I wonder if can just do it myself.... buy the filters at the parts department, I need new wipers too..
