Deactivating DTC and DSC....

I read this @ another forum, not sure if its right?

"When you hit the DTC button (Dynamic Traction Control) it lights up and enables you to drive better in snow, sand. slush, etc. When you keep holding the DTC you will DISABLE both DTC and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) (This method is used to achieve the best 0-60 performance).

I verified in the manual - it states this:

Quote:

Press the button until the DSC indicator lamp in the instrument panel lights up, but not longer than approx. 10 seconds. DTC Dynamic Traction Control and DSC are deactivated together.

A message appears on the control display. Please note the supplementary information that appears there.
It'd be interesting to see how much looser the vehicle becomes. How much of the BMW engineering we've taken for granted... though probably not all that apparent unless you're really pushing it.

I haven't even taken advantage of HDC yet either.

DTC allows more than regular wheel spin which i think helps when you are skidding on snow.it helps you regain traction.i use dtc when its snowed real bad
disabling dtc kills all stability systems so you are right better 0-60 runs

it's been discussed here before.

YEs it is true that you can turn on DTC and even turn off DSC by holding the button down for 10 seconds. Use DTC only to maneuver out of a parking lot- driving around with DTC will cause tail spin and all the other spins and turns associated with winter driving- albeit to a degree. WIth DSC on, you can't even feel it when the car is skidding- it's solid on corners but with DTC you will feel the slips and slides along the way, so DO NOT drive with DTC on.

I'm not talking theory here, trust me on this I've done it :)

Even with DTC on, sometimes it snows so bad here in Canada that i can't quite get out from the parking lot- then i totally shut the DSC off and Xdrive my way out of there  That's the only time when I disable it.
