Strange air pump like sound from the hind quarters
I heard a strange sound from the rear passenger side wheel well. It sounding like a car battery operated tire pump. The car was parked and I had removed the keys. Usually when I park the car and get out I hear a hissing sound which seems to be the suspension readjusting itself, but this was different.
After giving it a few mins, and the sound had still not stopped, I started the car again, put it in reverse for a bit and then parked back, the sound was gone. Anyone else seen this issue? Can it be the electomechanical suspension component (I have the sports pkg). It may also explain the high battery drain someone else was experiencing. |
I hear this too. It stops after a couple minutes for me. The engine is in the back and I think something is not completely shut down for a couple of minutes.

Do these sound like your issue? Same wheel well so it's probably it.
http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e70-forum/...rear-tire.html http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e70-forum/...fan-turns.html I still hear it randomly (sometimes it doesn't occur) and believe it's normal by now as many have had it and it shuts off after a bit of 'cooldown' time. Haven't really narrowed it down to what scenarios do & do not make it come on though. |

rh71, the sound in the video is the exact sound I was getting. I didn't wait for the popping sound and started the car, so am not sure if the pop will also happen. It happened for the first time and I am not sure how to reproduce it.
