Leatherette Seats-anyone out there have them?

I am planning to order a new e70 X5 3.5d to replace my 2007 x5 3.0

I really like the MB tex seats in our Mercedes. I hate the way the leather seats get cracked and wrinkled on the sides where

The MB tex is easier to clean and stays new looking.

I have never seen an X5 without Leather interior.

I would love to order my new X5 with Leatherette seats.

If you have a Leatherette interior X5, can you post some photos and give me your comments on how you like these seats?

Thank you!!

The reason why most BMWs have this option is it comes included with the Premium Package which is probably the most ordered options package. I have seen the leatherette before and I guess it is okay. I personally prefer the leather smell and feel. If you really want the leatherette you would most definitely order it because I know many dealers don't carry X5s without the Premium Package. I also think the options in the Premium Package make it worth getting the package. Why would you want a $50k plus SUV and not even have lumbar support, auto dimming mirrors, etc.

P.S. I agree, Mercedes-Benz MB Tex I find to be a suitable alternative to the Mercedes leather.

The leatherette in the new BMW's is supposed to smell absolutely awful.

And on a more obvious note, try selling a BMW without leather seats and PP in the US. You'll probably get hit hard in depreciation.

I've seen a handful of them at BMW of Charlottesville. I think they're perfectly fine and its not very obvious in terms of looks. Its definitely not cheap, awful-smelling, or ugly like some folks make it sound. I say go for it.

Leatherette is excellent.

I bought my first X5 in August of 2000 with leatherette seats.
NOBODY ELSE COULD TELL IT WAS NOT "REAL" LEATHER.

My second (current) X5 has leather (standard on the V8) and I have not noticed a single benefit. I would take the $2000 and enjoy the leatherette.

Go for it.

I have leatherette and trust me, it is a very good quality material. It's an expensive car and BMW wouldn't be putting awful material in it. I still have the new car smell. The guy I bought my car from had it ordered from the factory. Nobody can tell by looking at it that it is not real leather.

Not that you asked, but here is my opinion. I would never order an expensive luxury car like an X5 and get leatherette seats. I might consider it in a 1 or 3 series, but not an X5.

Just my $0.02.

My mom had it in her E46 & E90 3 series. They held up very well and cleaned easily. The E90 seats were easily mistaken for real leather. Smelled fine.

If you're not in love with the idea of spending alot more just for leather I dont think youll be disappointed at all with leatherette (although I agree with FSETH above.)

I wouldn't pay $2k straight up to upgrade the leather but I did like what the premium pkg included so it was a no-brainer to accept it.

Mwares

I love the NOBAMA bumper sticker

One of my fondest memories of the election season was getting blown by on the tollway by a Range Rover with a huge NOBAMA bumper sticker on the back.
