Anybody have this combo?
2009 3.0 x5, but wanted to know which option you guys like better, i must have the sport and the third row, running boards. my question is, is the tech better to have than the prem? i know it's a subjective question but just trying to get the best bang for the buck, also wanted to know do i have to get the smart phone pack as well as the ipod pack to use my iphone?
anything that is a plus to have? i was gonna add the teck pack with the w/Bluetooth System and the Rear Climate Package cause i really did not care about the nappa leather, i have a 4 year old and he makes a mess of everything, car list for an MSRP 58,120.00 |
dump a couple of the "options" and order the 4.8i. just my opinion.
i don't use a Bluetooth type phone but i don't believe you need to order the tech package to use Bluetooth. mine is bluetooth capable and i only have premium package. tech package is Nav and well "other" options. 4.8 with premium, 3rd row, running boards, sport, heated front seats & rear climate with i-pod adapter. $66.2k per the BMW build your own website. just my opinion now mind you. i average 16 to 17 mpg in mixed driving. 18.5k miles in just under a year. the 3.0 did not excite me in any way, shape or form. :) |
premium vs. tech pkg... tough call as I like:
premium: - bluetooth - homelink - ambient lighting - auto tailgate (paid $500 in 08 models instead of being included in pkg). tech: - nav w/ RTTI - pdc (though without camera I'm not sure how much use you'll get out of it for inching during parallel parking). Can you somehow work out premium pkg + nav (comes with RTTI & voice)? That's what I would do in your situation. Premium gives you leather seats over leatherette too... not nappa. Simply adding nav gets you the wider idrive screen. BTW, I just noticed something... Tech pkg price: $2600 separately, NAV: $1900 + PDC: $700. So the ever-awesome camera is free. :hitanykey: |
Look at what each package contains, and decide what is important for you. If it were my car (which means no frills and just the driving-related options), I wouldn't get either and just order PDC as a stand-alone option. I am not the person to need sat nav, Bluetooth, or any of the features offered in any of the two packages.

Running boards are crap
They are positively useless. They are too high to step on when you get in and in the snow they get covered in slush. Your leg rubs on them when you disembark and all that mudslush gets on your pants. Lose the running boards. They look nice though.

Test drive the 4.8 and get the 4.8 + premium + navigation + sport + 3rd row. After you drive the 4.8 you will never go back to the 3.0si. Just my 2 cents.
