Snowboard carrier(from Thule) + base support system(OEM accessory)

Are the snowboard carriers from Thule compatible with the BMW base support system(OEM accessory, not standard roof rails)??? :dunno:
Thanks.

If you're referring to the BMW crossbars, yes. The Thule Snowboard carriers should work. They work with most crossbars.

I would just go with the Thule load bars, they mount directly to all of the BMW roof rails I have had and work very well. Benefit is you can use one key for all the locks.

If you do get the BMW load bars, make sure you get the locking ones (other posters have reported that they come both ways, with and without locks).

Thanks for advices, Golfer4life and JCL!
Well then, what kind of rack do you have?? and how do you like it?

I recently ordered the Thule 91726 Universal Ski / Snowboard Rack...it didn't work as the OEM cross-members I have were too thick. So I removed the cross-members and purchased the Thule 5401 Snowcat Ski-Snowboard Rack. It locks onto the OEM roof rails and worked perfectly. Member brian5 hooked me up with the below link:

A rep from Inno says theirs will fit the X5 cross-members but i went with the Thule Snowcat instead.

This website is great! Well, I'm thinking about getting the same one as yours(#91726)
By the way, I just got an email from a guy at the Thule said that the 91726 and two other carriers will fit the BMW base support system with a Xadaptor 7.

I'm using Yakima crossbars mounted on the BMW OEM rails with Yakima towers. They seem to work well with Thule also. I have a Thule Cascade Cargo box.

You can't go wrong with either Thule or Yakima. If you haven't bought the crossbars yet and thinking of getting the Thule snowboard rack, just stick with the entire Thule system and as mentioned from previous post, try and get the same locks for the whole system.

You'll be happy with the 91726...it holds a good mix of boards/ski's. Just be sure that whichever adapter/cross-member you use is thin enough for the Thule tie-down to lock onto. The Snowcat holds the same amount of equipment and was only $25 dollars more. Installation was very simple. Safe travels and enjoy the season...

Will 47'' aero crossbars(450R) fit my E70?
or would it be too short? I don't like bars sticking out at all...

I would think that they would be too short. I have the (Thule recommended size) RB53 (53") bars and don't remember them sticking out excessively. I haven't had them on for 8 months so I can't remember exactly what it looked like.

This thread had pictures of the RB53 on an E53 http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...t-up-bars.html
The E70 is bigger...
