hesitation at low RPMs

At low RPMs ( 1000- 1200), upon accelerating, it hesitates, then, downshifts and takes off. The dealership do not seem to be able to fix the problem even after ugrading a certain software

mine will occasionally do that also. but i believe mine only does it under load such as rolling uphill starts. my guess is the DSC is thinking about traction issues. i've got nearly 20k miles on mine. i notice this issue less these days or it is occurring less often.

drive-by-wire normalcy? OP, which engine do you have?

I complained about this also (coming from a '95 vehicle that is not drive-by-wire and just goes)....I bought it anyway thinking it was a break-in thing. A precise pressure on the accelerator helps - if you mash it, it will delay... not enough and well.. you know. I think it has learned my style by now at 4k miles... or vice versa as some would suggest. Another possibility - if you put it on manual, you'll notice it starts in 2nd gear. Wonder if auto goes through the same - sure feels the same.

Try to see if it happens in the "DS" mode. I think it's the xdrive software trying to calculate wheel traction before applying torque to the wheels.

When I put my foot down on the accelerator really quickly, then sometimes it will get jumpy and twitchy so that did surprise me a couple times.

I get this turning into a corner which is then up an inclinel... for example I slow down using brakes , turn , then accelerate up the hill and get the hesitation... this is in D mode.. btw this is on a 2007 X5 diesel...

I tried it in DS mode but still did the same. I took it to the dealership a couple of days ago and I was told that the car is running the way it should. They could not find any software problem. I wonder if it is a patially clogged injection port. I never had the problem when I first bought it.

I have a similar issue with my 08 when making low speed/rpm turns. I haven't figured out the cause, but assumed it was due to the AWD or some other electronic traction control system.

My 06,07 and 08 all did the same.

Don't know if MB and Lexus do the same.

x5ver 01-12-2009 10:31 PM

I don't think the Lexus or the MB do that. I am not sure why not all the X5 do that. There must be some kind of factory defect...
