X5 Key Codes - how does it work?
 

I always wondered about this... BMW says that each time you use the key to turn the car on, a new "code" is sent to the key so that it would know to start the car with that new code next time the car is started. This is a "security feature" that prevents "code grabbing"... Ok, that makes sense...

But how does my wife's key know this same code after my key supposedly got a "new code" during starting?

Because there is a separate chanel and code set for each key.
