Alarm problem

The X5 has about 4400 miles on it and I had my first problem. When I would unlock the car and open the door, the alarm would go off. It didn't happen every time, but it happened at least once per day. Took it in and the dealer said there was a bulletin on this problem. They had to reprogram the vehicle.

The only problem was it kept crashing when they tried to reprogram it. They needed to replace the power control module. This part was on some kind of backorder and needed to come from Germany. I didn't relish the idea of driving the stripped down X3 loaner for a week or so.

The good news -- they called yesterday and apparently took a module from an unsold car that was in the Oxnard prep center. They installed the part, programed the car, and I picked it up yesterday.

So far the alarm has not acted up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but they did say that they found the codes of what was causing the problem and are confident that it is fixed.

Happened once to me too. I was actually very close to the dealer when it happened, but it stopped after about a minute, so the dealer couldn't help me much.
