Bought 07 X5 at auction by mistake!

I'm fairly new to this forum but enjoy it and like the info I can get here so I thought I'd share my story. I already own an 01 X5 3.0 and love it. I went to an auction (friend has used car license) and was watching several e53 X5's but had my eye on an 07 3.0 that I really wanted. I only saw one 07 in the booklet they give you that lists all the vehicles. Anyway, in the confusion of the auction (24 lanes going at once) I saw the 07 coming in the door and bid on it thinking it was the one I had been looking at. Got it for 42K. When I looked at the car later out in the lot I realized it was the wrong one! It was a 4.8i instead of the 3.0. I've since had it to a dealer and he printed out the specs. Cold weather, rear climate, tech package,ARS & EDC ??, premium, sport, 20" 214's w/rft, tire pressure monitor. Space gray/gray leather. 12k miles with 2 1/2 years left on warranty. I'm glad I made the mistake now. I've put a couple thousand miles on it and I'm really impressed with this car.

you might want to check the record of the vehicle. i dont think the rest of dealerships that went to that auction is blind that they let that vehicle go like that. there might be hidden damages. if it is accident free, lemon free, no engine replacement or transmission replacement, then you got a steal. dont be happy just yet. as the old saying goes "you get what you pay for". good luck.

i saw one on passport bmw lot priced at $48K, 10K miles, and that is the listing price you expect they go down to $45K or less. so if you got it at $42K at auction, thats an ok deal. the truth is dealership buy cars at auction average $10K less than listing price. if passportbmw has it at $48K, they likely bought it @ $38K at auction.

The cheapest I could find with similar options was about 52K. I'm pretty sure I got a good deal.

it is a great deal, are you kidding me? Congrats!

Thanks, the guy that did the actual bidding for me thinks I really got a great deal. I forgot to mention that it was the last auction of the year and it was pouring down rain all day. He claimed that drove the prices down.
