:iagree: ...and, peruse the E70 Forum to help you answer the dozen
questions that you will have arise.

Rejuggle your portfolio, take the kids to the zoo, help your wife clean
house, sit back and enjoy the wait.

Can't take the kids to the zoo...my first isn't due until until August 22nd!!!

This will be my childs first ride!!! My unborn kid was the motivation for the Rear Climate Package!!!

On an excitement scale of 1-10...waiting for the X5 is about a 9. Waiting for my first child is OFF THE CHARTS!!!

Congrats on your first, coming! Hope he/she comes 5 days late: my birthday. The first one is simply indescribable and life changing...
sleep lots, now!

 That is a funnyazz line!

Hellsbells, mine are 38 1/2 & 41, and there are days I would still like
to send them back for a refund, or at least a credit.

Any advice to a 33 year old about to become a father(and a 4.8 owner)?

Have patience, sleep now, (no joke), save dough, have patience,
love your kid to bits, have patience.
Not sure I was/am the model father but the Kidz turned out ok and we
all still love each other to bits. The car is just a car...

funtime in the car is different than funtime with the newborn in the car. ;)

I don't think there is a difference. If I am supposed to provide for my child then I can't take uneeded risk with my baby in, or out, of the car.

I can appreciate the power of my truck without needing to put myself or my family in danger.

rh71 01-19-2009 12:13 AM

well "spirited" driving isn't necessarily dangerous... at least not to that degree. ;) Man I can't stop using that word ever since I read it here. Anyway, the X feels solid on the road and you know about its safety features... with all that power at your fingertips you may have an itch at times... let me put it this way then... have fun when you can.

Did you get the 3rd row of seats? I'm a 38 year old. After my first, I swore no more. I now have 3. My eldest is now 8, and my youngest 5. Hence always buying seven seaters nowadays.

That's why I bought the 3.0Si ;)

But in all seriousness I cant get over what a wonderful handling car the X5 is for an SUV. I do a lot of very spirited driving when conditions permit and the X5 in the few days that I have been driving it has put a huge smile on my face. I will be taking it to the track just to see how far it can be pushed around the corners.

alexmish 01-25-2009 12:02 PM

Congrats! As an FYI, your kid will not really appreciate rear climate package until he/she is 8-year old and can ride it without car/booster seat :) I have a feeling that in 8.5 years from now, you will be driving another X5 !!!

And yes, the wait was always very painful to me. I usually go bonkers while waiting for a new car, so I suggest you get yourself pre-occupied with other things.... such as re-decorating the baby room. Get your mind off the car !

jeep 01-25-2009 03:47 PM

For a while there was a free return policy in Nebraska:rofl:, I think that was probably the best deal out there, till the lawmakers got wise:rofl:

On my end, can't imagine life without my 30month old, it's definitely a roller coaster, but what a ride, wait till they start speaking. Some days are tuff but always entertaining;) I definitely would advise stacking up on those sleep credits:p:

morecowbell 01-25-2009 04:33 PM

Didn't order the third row seat...it's only a 36 month lease...thats said...when it's time for the next car, it will surely be needed.

Im trying to save up the sleep credits as much as possible, but I see myself running out of them awfully quick once the baby comes in August...

Roadster 01-25-2009 05:04 PM

similarities rule:thumbup:
I'm turning 33 next month, my '09 X5 is due for delivery in a couple of days (I coped pretty well between my order mid november '08 and my dealer's phone call last friday to tell me that they received the car... but now the wait is indeed painful...:( ) and we are expecting our first child (it's a boy:thumbup: )... which should be 'delivered' by the end of May :woohoo: ...
