Thanks for the feed back guys i really appreciate it! Since my inital post my motivation for a larger car has been increased, just found out my wife and i are expecting our third child!
Anyone on the board have three young children......any issues fitting three child seats across the rear seat? In nine months time we will have a 3 and a half year old a 1 and a half year old and a new born....shit i am gonna be a busy boy! No probs with the Treg to date. Hey Nerweezy....i have been a regular on E60.net over the past couple of years. |
^ grats on your third. I have twins and 2 rear-facing carriers in the back. It looks like a 3rd would fit in the middle though you'd have to use the belt instead because there will be no LATCH support there. I don't believe the 3rd row supports rear-facing.

Hi Maty and welcome.
The wife and I had 2 x E53 X5's and found it unnecessary for the average day to day stuff. We found one was always used as the family car (complete with crumbs, dead chips, M&M's etc) whereas mine was my daily driver. It was total overkill. I enjoyed the driving position of the X but took the plunge for an E60 LCI and do not regret it one bit. We also traded the other E53 for the 'family pack' E70 with the extra seats. I enjoy driving the E70, but it IS a heavy vehicle and seems big to drive after a while. I often can't wait to get back into my E60 for the handling. I was once talking to my dealer rep about the X6 and asked him who was buying it... he said it was designed for people like you who wanted some performance handling of eg an E60 with the higher driving position of the X5, without it being a family pack as you would already have an SAV/SUV for that. So as another member already said, I reckon you might like to check out an X6... Cheers J |
LVR you have identified my main concern with changing to an SUV and that is loosing the driving feel the E60 delivers. I like alot about the Touareg however it drives like a tank compared to the 5, i imagine the E70 offers a more direct drive but it is still a huge chunck of metal. I had a cursory look at the X6 when i was at the dealers the other day and my initial feeling was it offered less practicality than the E60, mainly as it is a 4 seater, forgot to look in the boot regardless i just dont think it is the car for me. Now if practicallity wasn't an issue i would be snuggling up to a E92/93 M3.....the sacrifices we make :p:
I have some time up my sleve so i will just mull it over for a little while and hoepfully i will see the light. In the mean time I am waiting for Kevin Rudd to announce that he is going to buy everyone in Australia the car of their choice:D Quote:
