firmware fixes list / summary?
 

Is there a list somewhere of what firmware fixes what? Or a listing of service bulletins? I believe in May '08 there was one specific about fixing the electronic parking brake getting stuck issue and mine was produced Jan '08. I tried to get them to throw the latest firmware on (because frankly I don't want to get stuck at the wrong time) but they wouldn't do it stating there was no code stored for it happening before. It hasn't happened because I've been using the workaround for it (engaging it only with engine off).

Is there a list of all fixes somewhere so that I can take a preventative approach rather than waiting for something to throw a code at an inopportune time?

The new firmware doesn't do much in terms of the parking brake. I'm still having a problem with mine after it got upgraded to the latest firmware (Dec '08). It's going in again this monday for the parking brake.

Pardon my ignorance but what exactly is this parking brake issue many are speaking of?

The parking brake fails to release without manually releasing it using a tool on a pull on the left side of the trunk. This happened mysteriously to my 2008 X5. I had to take it to my dealer to get it reset.

HaroldC, are you getting the same "parking brake malfunction" message or is it a different brake issue?

I'm getting the 'parking brake malfunction' error message even though the parking brake works and releases fine.
