Headlights on all the time in auto mode
Correct me if I'm wrong, if you select you headlight switch to auto (left), shouldn't the headlight be off when it's bright, and turn itself on when it's dark? It seems when I use the auto mode, the headlights are on day or night...

Yes, it is on all the time.

It depends on the angle of the sunlight and ambient light levels. In the higher latitudes during the winter, the sun's angle is lower and thus even during the day, the headlamps may come on for longer periods than during the summer.

i think you mistaken with the DRL. the headlights only turn on when its dark.

I'll pay closer attention to my car this weekend. Just picked it up last Saturday. Already I am experiencing some of the similar issue other forum members have experienced... for example, the driveway of my condo leads to a busy street in the morning, when I leave in the morning for work, I often have to gun it (left turn) when the opportunity is right to merge into traffic. If I do it slowly it accelerates just fine. But when I gun it and making a left turn at the same time that's when the V8 shifts to second gear and throws my head against the back of the chair... as I discovered others have experienced the same issue. Love the power tho, beats my former car (a 528) -- my wife thinks I don't know how to drive the beast...

It's usually around 5 seconds to switch off.... there is a sensitivity setting that only BMW can change to make the sensor less / more sensitive.. but that doesn't mean they should never shut off at all in daylight....

It's been confirmed. In Auto mode, my headlight stays on ALL the time! Is the sensor broken? I will send this car in to have it fixed.

When you do, I would be interested as to what they say. My headlights stay on all the time too. California location.
