diesel x5 feul problem

I just got an X5 DIESEL. I am told by the dealer to fuel it with Ultra Low Sulfer Diesel. The problem is that I am planning to ship the car out of country, but aparently the destination country has a different sulfer level diesel.
I did some research, the Ultra has a 15ppm sulfer content, my country offers a 50ppm sulfer diesel, the Euro IV standard.
Does anyone know if my car will run ok? I dont want to damage the engine. The regular diesel in the US has 500ppm, and my dealer says dont fuel the car with it unless I have to, but only do it once in a long while.
Thanks for the help.

The ultra standard in 5ppm, Australia has just gone to it, the diesel here was 10ppm. About 3-4 years ago it was 50ppm. 50ppm won't hurt your car, my old BMW X5 E53 3.0d ran on it for years. Just change your oil more often.

I also believe the nest generation of diesel will be 1-2ppm.

I wouldn't run your car on it. BMW won't cover the damage under warranty. You should have purchased a Euro spec diesel...

i dont mind voiding the warranty, I just hope my US spec X5 diesel doest get damaged running euro diesel that has 50ppm of sulfer.
I will definitely change oil often to help the car run better.

what year make is the E53 X5 diesel? What was the recommended ppm diesel feul it should have run on?

my owners manual on my euro-spec diesel X5 tells me not to fill it with low sulfer fuel...:dunno:
go figure...

My X5 was 2003 model, BMW just detuned it for the 50ppm fuel. The Euro spec X5 at the time had 500nm of torque and the Australian version only had 460nm and then lifted to 480nm.

same trouble

Hi all,

First post. Have been lurking for months now. Just need to say great gtreat info on this site and a positive attitude from most members.

I am based in the u.k and am in the process of deciding which E70, 3.0d or 4.8i i should buy to export to pakistan, going over for a two years business. I have been told by the bmw dealers in Pakistan that due to the high sulphur content in diesel over there, although they are selling diesels!!! They say that the diesels that they are selling have some engine modifications. Does anyone know what they are?

Also, after how long should one change the motor oil? in Diesel and petrol.

Finally does anyone have running and maintenance costs comparisons for the 3D and 4.8. The price of diesel and petrol is the same in Pakistan.

Thanks.
