Does your steering telescope "in" when you shut off your car?
My steering wheel moves up when engine is off to allow better exit, but it does not move in and up. My buddy's e53 moves both in and up and out of the way when engine is off.
I am having the dealer to fix the sensitivity of my auto headlight (since it's on all the time), and don't know if this is also an issue and needs to be addressed. Even my old e39 software can be flashed... so a simple fix? |
It has the default position and it has your desired position. Perhaps you've only moved it down as your desired position and never moved it out so it's already at the default distance going in/out.

No, I am a short guy (don't like to admit it) with alligator arms so I do move the telecope towards me -- but it does not retract and only moves up when I shut the car off.
|
Ours used to do both, in and up but stopped when the software was last updated (which gave us split screen for reversing camera and park sensors)

mine moves up and out....

Yup...mine moves in and up. I doesn't always move out and down the way it should when I get back in though.

With the latest software, the steering wheel no longer moves when you turn the ignition off.

I checked all manuals from 07 to 09, it only states that the steering wheel moves up during exiting. Did not make any indication that the wheel would move "in" telescopically. But it seems many of you have indicated that it should do both. But the latest software update disables this function all together? I am 5'6" about 190lb with T-Rex arms :p: with a belly, so when I drive, the steering wheel is pulled towards me; but when I leave and becasue of the gut, it would be nice the steerign wheel would retract in addition to going up... anyone know which software version does that? and also how do I know which software version do I have? Thanks everyone! |
Try resetting the M1 or M2 buttons on the driver's seat. This should resolve this issue for you.
