Not that anyone cares.
--BMW X5 3.0 and 4.8 $6500 --BMW 3 Series E90 Sedan $3750 --BMW 3 Series E91 Wagon $3270 --BMW 3 Series E92 Coupe $3250 --BMW 3 Series E93 $3250 --BMW 550i $4800 |
That is excellent news. Now I can theoretically order my favourite exterior colour on the 125i and 3er. The 125i coupé never looked so enticing. The 3er now has proper colours and equipment and wheels.
|
Yeah not interested in any of it even for a new X.
Just curious though, does this not include painted bumpers? Or is that standard now? |
$6500 seems pretty steep ?

For the folks that might not know what the M Aerodynamic packet looks like, and also an interior shot of the M sport steering wheel. I don't think it can be ordered in conjunction with the Heated Steering wheel, at least in Germany.
|
I looked at the pics of the new X5M that someone posted earlier in the week and the M steering wheel had a button for heating. Also on the M5 they are offering steering wheel heating ... so it might have it now.
I must confess, the M steering wheel in my 2008 M3 is the best steering wheel I've ever owned. I will really miss it. I hope that I will be able to retrofit this new M sport pack steering wheel to my very non sporty X5 35d ! |
Not worth $ IMHO... I can get the ///M sticker for the steering wheel on the ebay for $15 :)
No, seriously.... If they added another 50-100hp, it would be more reasonable then... I like the rims though ! |
My only gripe, is that the M-Sport wheels SUCK. 1/4 X's at the plant last week were ZMP, but those damn wheels have GOTTA go.

Agreed, wheels would be my only gripe.

Not available on the 35d though. Too bD.

Agree with you guys. There is something about the 19" rims that makes them look way too small for the car; almost like they are 17" rims or something. The design is nice but either they ARE too small or the design makes them LOOK too small. 20" rims are more like it, but those aren't my favorite style. The entire package is cosmetic with no performance benefit so I'm a bit surprised they really badged it as an "M" and not something else entirely. And even with the cosmetic add-ons why no ///M dead pedal and door sills like all the other ones seem to have. Personally I can't stand the M Sport packs body colored painted bumpers, but nothing is worse than the design of the glued on 'wax lips' front bumper. So for $6500 it's a monumental rip off.
|
The rear bumper is probably the only good things in the M pkg, IMHO

I have the M Sport package with almost everything the same as this picture. Downside about the M SPort 20" rims to me is that they are weak IMO. I have had my X for 3 months, and had 1 wheel (Back Left) repaired already after it had about 4 major chips. Now the same wheel has gotten it first chip again. I drive it so slow and carefully and have no idea how it is happening. |
What do you mean by 'chips'? In the clear coat or deeper? Are they small pebble or rock size chips or large flakes peeling off?

carbon black is a pretty nice color, but honestly i look at my x5 everyday and i can *barely* tell the difference with the aero body kit

Personally I think the aero kit front looks light-years better then the M Sport package front.
|
+1 for the Aero kit, carbon black x5 with either a silver or maybe a gold aero kit would look good and adds a bit of contrast.

(I would like to express my thoughts I what I believe will happen in the X5 used market in the next 12-18 mths here in Australia between aero kitted X5's and M-Sports X5's) Firstly, I will be doing some extra colour coding via the dealer who has his own panel/paint shop onsite to make it look more agressive. The problem with the aero X5's here in Australia is that there are 3 or 4 of them on the used car lots of every BMW dealer and there either grey or black. They have been so popular that everyone has a aero kit. With the extra cost of $8,000 for a M-Sport here (Aero kit costs about $3,000 fitted and you still have to buy the sport pack, another $5,000) and the fact it's a M badge X5 I am hoping that at the time of resale my X5 M-Sport will be able to sold quicker. I only hold my cars for about 12-18 months and both the Sports Pack with aero and M-Sport are nearly the same price new, so as I believe there are currently a lot less M-Sports out there and that being the same price that buyers will go for a secondhand M-Sport rather than secondhand sport pack aero kit X5. I am also finding the dealers are telling buyers to buy a M-Sport rather than a Sport pack with aero kit because it cost more in the long run as you don't get colour coded bumper bars, painted flairs, M Wheels, M Steering wheel etc and you don't have to wait a week to get the aero kit painted & fitted to your X5. I also have noticed that Sales people seem to be trying to say that one is a sports pack X5 and the other one here is a M-Sports and since they cost the same you would be stupid to take the old style, as if it is one step up the ladder of X5's. My dealer had both X5's on the floor last week and the M-Sport lasted one day before it was sold, it was the same price as the aero kit with sport pack X5 beside it!. (The impression I get is that he is not putting anymore aero kits on to sell X5's and that they are a after market option only now if anyone wants it) So at the end of the day my feeling is BMW has created a defacto like change to the X5, 2008 Sports Pack Areo Kit X5's to 2009 M-Sport X5's, like its a natural progression, that this is the old style sports X5 and this is the new sports X5 the M-Sport, a defacto face lift. They did it to the X3 as well. Line both X5's up beside each other, think 12 months ahead about resale and I believe you will choose M-Sport. Anyway that's my $0.02 |
For resale value purposes only, that is a great reason to go with the sports kit AND the fact that it is a "newer design".
Here in Los Angeles, CA there are only a few X5's with aero kits, and the price I can get it is much less than $3k. Right here I can get the original aero kit painted and fitted for around $1300 USD. Then again this is my first X5 (08 4.8i Space Grey), and I am thinking of having the Aero Kit installed for the first time. Either way good luck! |
