New X5 and wind noise
Hi all,
I took my X5 2009 4.8 last 2 months. It is with Soft closing option. Since the first day, I'm noticing wind noise coming. I notice the noise when I drive beyond 120km/h. And imagine if I drive more than 160km/h, so how will be the noise???? :( I had a bmw e60 525i 2007, and the wind noise was less than what I'm noticing in my X5. It is normal? You are noticing this noise also? |

I'm not sure, but I think it is from the sides windows and from front window.

Are they open??????

I know i know but I just couldn't resist.
Bozz. |
It's not normal as far as I'm concerned, but everyone has their individual expectations and tolerances i suppose.

Yes it is not normal.
Sometimes I recheck the windows to confirm that they are really closed. And it is strange that an E60 525 has lower wind noise than my X5. It is due the option of "soft closing"? Everone noticed this wind noise. |
Some members here have reported that the rubber seals around their side windows had become warped and no longer sealed properly when the window went up - you should have a close look at your SAV. Also, i recall purchasing a car a few years ago where the windshield was not properly seated at the factory which resulted in horrendous wind noise.

Is it wind noise or road/tire noise? I can tell you that the X5 is not Lexus-quiet. Tire/road noise is something that has been discussed here before. If that is what you're referring to, then yes... it's normal. It's a bimmer, not a Lexus.

Thanks Fastbuck.
I will take my car to my vendor to check why I have this wind noise. Kaefer No, I'm not talking about tire noise. It is really wind noise |
