lastest electrical gremlin

sunroof bugged out today. got a message "Sliding / Tilt anti-trap function deactivated. Have system checked by BMW"

so naturally i tried the sunroof button. couldn't get the sunroof to open, but suddenly both sections tilted open without retracting the head liner. 31 degrees F. sweet. and of course they would not close. again, sweet.

called my SA and he offered a fix; which after four attempts in 15 minutes finally closed the sunroof. the message still posts everytime i start the car.

ideas? anyone else seen this one?

we just went thru 2 days of heavy rain with snow this morning. obviously my X is a Summer car. :rofl:

I had a similar problem with my 3 series sedan. To make a long story short it turned out that some dirt got into the track and set off a sensor that deactivated the sunroof. It took the dealer all of 20 minutes to diagnose and fix the problem.
