Phone Problem X5 E70
Hi,
I have new problem that just happened after my last service check. I have HTC mobile phone which was working perfectly with my car. The problem that happened after last check( they did some sort of upgrade), I cannot pick up income call from the phone. Once I answer any incoming call from the phone it will be transferred to the car in 2 seconds. Its annoying, I used to pick up calls from the car by clicking on the answer key on steering wheel, and if its private call I pick it up from the phone. I took my car to the dealer, they couldnt fix it and they have told me this is the normal :yikes: anyone has any idea about this problem |
I would delete the pairing and re-pair it to see if that has any effect. Bluetooth equivalent of Ctrl-Alt-Delete

I definitely which I could take calls separately if I choose too -- espeically when someone else is riding in the car plus this is a work issued blackberry so a lot of work related issues. |
:iagree:
I have it set up for auto pairing and turn off bluetooth on the phone if I need to take a private call. It disengages the phone from the car quickly. |

The latest software with auto pair puts the sound on the car speakers regardless if you push the steering wheel button or the phone button. I use an iphone, and there is an easy option to "switch audio source" which lets you choose between BMW, Handset, and speakerphone. Its a lot easier than turning the bluetooth off.
What I hate about the bluetooth is that if your car is on and you are in the store or at the car wash lounge and are talking on the phone, and you come within the 30 feet of the car it automatically puts your call into your BMW through BT. First few times I thought it got disconnected but my car wash guy said "your car was talking and yelling". |

Yeah, in both my '08 4.8i and the new Range Rover, incoming calls are automatically sent to the speakers in the car, right away. Like several have mentioned, you either have to turn off your Bluetooth setting (or if you are lucky to have an iPhone, you just switch audio sources from BMW/Land Rover to iPhone). It's easy, quick and smooth. I'm afraid, you are not going to be able to "undo" the upgrade, as it seems to be doing what it is supposed to do. Yeah, it is horrible when a call comes in, you have people in the car...and the call is private. Can you imagine how horrible, if you're in the car with your wife/husband...and your girlfriend/boyfriend calls. Akward!!! :)

Thats why caller ID and phone books were made. Girlfriend could be "Service Center".

I also have an HTC. Anytime I want the call to be private (although the ear piece on the HTC is still loud enough for people to hear), I just go to the phone's "Menu" and "Turn Hands Free Off". |

well ya you can do that, but the problem is, when you answer the call from the phone, it will be on the phone for few seconds, so, you will not be able to click that option. Actually the option would be Turn Hands Free On- instead of off. Wait about 2 seconds, and the call will be transfered directly to your car. :dunno: |
I also have an HTC (Verizon XV6800) and my problem is the delay in getting the call to even pick up when I hit accept on idrive. It takes 5-10 secs sometimes while the idrive appears frozen. You guys experience this?

On another note, each time I get into the car, it loads the names and phone numbers of my contacts. BUT, for some reason, it does not load all of them! You would think that it would cut off names in the "Z's", but that's not the case. It seems to cut off some individual names from all over the alphabet. Any thoughts as to why? |

I have used cell phones for many, many years and bluetooth in a number of different cars like Cadillac, Nissan, Lexus, etc, etc. They all basically have pretty big operational problems. Especially when you are using it for more important/complicated stuff like business rather than chatting.
Has a cell phone or automotive engineer EVER used the devices that they design? I honestly don't think they ever do. My solution. Have more than one cell phone. Or you can get more than one number on your cell phone. Etc. They are so cheap these days that I have found having that type of solution is best. |
i have iphone 3G and there is no delay pushing the idrive neither the steering wheel button.

My last Volvo XC90 had a phone set up in the center console so whenever it was a delicate call, I just picked up the phone which automatically disengaged the speakers.
With this BMW phone system, my marriage is in danger. |
