I finally did the swap - which on paper is a very simple thing to do but it has to be one of the most labor intensive so far. ;) I found though that using a hair dryer on it to heat up the tape (from the inside) helped a bit, after trying so hard to pop it out (inward) for so long... I applied more heat doing the other side and the thing popped off much quicker and the sticky tape on one side came off along with it... bonus. Removing the rest of the tape as it ripped apart every quarter-inch was a chore and a half - that's some tough tape, but do-able by hand.
Here are the pics... it sort of takes some getting used to after seeing the yellow for so long there. It is also coming out in pics a bit differently than in person. It looks a bit recessed here when it's actually not - it's very flush and even (made sure I removed all the previous tape). The reflector has a glass coating of course and that's raised more than the reflective material inside so I suppose that's why and it's only fooling the camera, not the person in-person. ;) Anyway, I thought I'd post pics so people can see what white w/ clear reflectors looks like. Ebay - $30.
