PDC Rear off

Can anyone help me. I've put my bike rack on the back of the car with the hitch mount. All is good.

However, obviously when I put the car in reverse, the PDC rear sensors think there is something near the car, so the sonic tone is always on.

I can switch off the entire system (front and rear ... and rear view camera) ..

but ... is there any way to just switch off the Rear PDC, and keep front PDC on ... and Rear view camera on ?

I read through the manual ... but no joy. Thanks, Adrian

Unfortunately, no.

Damm ... I read in the manual that you can turn down the sonic beep ... however thats only cars with single drive units.

This is completely backwards. You would have thought that the system with navigation (two drives) would have the most features and allow this capability.

Since I just got the car (two days ago), I'm going to get BMW Seattle to raise a PUMA case on this, and then get them to contact the regional BMW rep. This is not acceptable and poor engineering.

^ I completely agree about the "backwards" statement.... my very first thought when I read it in the manual.

They'll simply tell you to manually disable the system when the bike rack is in place. Nothing else they can do. Dont waste your time.

Same problem here. Hitch mounted bike rack causes PDC to go off constant when in reverse. Kind of silly to have to manually turn off the PDC every time you go in reverse, but dont see any other way around the issue.

The front PDC is a joke. Should not be there in the first place. I hate it.
Just turn off both. If you hit something parking rear, you ll hit it with the bike rack.

Whoa! I sure hope I'm never parked behind you!

Unless I'm missing something, how do you permanently switch it off? You can disable it temporarily by pushing the button on the switch console, but the moment you put the car back in reverse, it switches back on again.

This makes parrallel parking a PITA !

What happens if you plug something into the electrical outlet next to the trailer hitch. If the car detects a resistance there, does it switch PDC rear off by itself. Anyone use the car with a trailer that has trailer lights, etc connected to the car?

Just used it with bike rack on it. I didn't worry about that much though.
