About to close the deal

Guys,
I'm about to close a deal on a 2008 3.0si. Here's the link

Preowned-Inventory Rusnak Westlake BMW Thousand Oaks CA

It's pretty much fully loaded sans ventilated seats, back up camera, active steering, and HUD.

It's being shipped from Cali to Dallas and they've quoted me $49,500 for everything.

I'm ready to go but now I'm having second thoughts about paying that much. I've KBB'ed a 2007 with all the options and it's $51K so I thought the $49,500 was a good deal.

What does anyone else think?

i think you would be happier with a 4.8i, but that is just my opinion.

if it is being transferred from a dealer in CA to a dealer in TX you are probably paying that expense.

i purchased a 2006 3.0 without Nav or sport in august for $30k with 24k miles and i probably paid too much given the bubble burst.

you do know there have been many a complaint regarding the hesitation issues with the E70 3.0 right? i would be curious why this vehicle is on the used car lot.

the Carfax looks funky, no date of origination. loaner, demo or sales manager demo maybe?

Yeah, the 4.8i was tons of fun when I test drove it, but I just think it's a little much for my daily commute. Besides, I sit in traffic half of time here in Dallas and just having all that power and no where to gun it would drive me crazy!

Funny thing about the hesitation issue is that I've mainly heard it about the 4.8i.

The stealership guy said the car is a sales manager demo and that's why the CarFax looks weird. The car is CPO'ed as well.

We'll see how I feel tomorrow morning, I supposed to be getting the finalized papers Fed'Exed to my office.

my 4.8 does not suffer from the hesitation issue. it will lurch as if hunting for the right gear occasionally first thing in the morning while driving uphill.

good luck with it. i mean hell with the CPO you could actually get a longer warranty than new depending on the date of origination they set.

Yeah the CPO is good until Oct. 2014, but hopefully I'll be back in Dallas by 2012 and I'll finally get that E93 I've been longing for!

I used to have the hesitation issue on the 3.0 but it is no longer there and I did nothing in particular to fix it - break-in thing perhaps? 4.8s have the jerky transmission, so I guess you pick your poison at this point. As I said in another thread, I would never pay nearly new prices for a used vehicle. It doesn't even seem like buying new takes much of a hit when you throw these prices on the table. Keep in mind the recession affects new cars more than used... probably why the used prices are still high, so similar, and not as negotiable. Anyway, if you don't plan on keeping it long, go with the CPO.
