Tail-light tint.

I have a space gray e70 and I'm wonderring how it will look if I tint my tail-light. I've seen many black e70 with tinted tail-light but not on a gray e70 yet. Is there anyone who have seen a gray e70 w/ tint tail-light? Any pic reference will be appreciated.

Newbie question - is the tint for tail lights on the outside or inside of the 'piece'?

I'm also still thinking about getting it done on my white, but haven't found anyone good to do it on LI. The guy I used to do my windows did a good job but he doesn't do lights.

Anyone know the laws?

Out of curiosity, since tail lights must be DOT approved, is it legal to tint them, i.e., can the police ticket you if they are in a bad mood?

When I got my grills painted black, the body shop was painting a set of lights for a different customer. They have a clear paint which can be mixed with any color to give that tinted look. He said it works perfectly on plastic, won't chip or peel off like tint film used on windows. He also said they have this paint for wheels if you want that charcoal polished/gun metal look instead of chrome or silver. I think I may get my lights done! I certainly wouldn't use the film and wouldn't recommend it either. :thumbdown If you want to do it the cheap way, you can buy tint spray paint and do it yourself. I think I've seen it on ebay...

do u know what that clear paint is called or where it can be bought from?

I utilized the tint paint that I got from a Japanese company on Ebay. It worked great and allowed me to control exactly how much tint I wanted. I removed the four tail light pieces and painted them all at the same time to maintain consistency of tint. It came out very well and I like it on my grey E53. I realize this is of no value without photo but the weather is crap here right now and I have no archived photos with the tint. Sorry. I highly recommend the tint paint if you know what you are doing.

The spray is VHT Nightshade. I have my 3rd brake light on my Denali smoked out with it. I will get some pictures of members cars from a different forum (Tahoe's and Denali's) who have tinted their lights in different shades for you to see.

BTW, if you are in SoCal, there is a guy who owns a shop and deals with GM, Range rover, and BMW accessories. He has tinted many lights and does a good job . If you are interested in his info, let me know.

Here is a light tint on the store owners Tahoe. I will get more pictures up soon. Let em know how dark you want to see.
