e70 ceramic low dust brake pads
Anyone come up with a solution for a ceramic brake pad both front and rear for the e70 4.8i ?

i think ceramic brakes decrease your braking power compared to OEM brake pads... keep that in mind

Axxis list a rear pad (part # 45-1024WD) that is the Deluxe Advanced version. That is the new name for the pad that used to be the Deluxe. They are very low dust. I have used Axxis pads successfully, but not on an E70. Some distributors call these a ceramic pad. I don't think of them as a ceramic, and the Axxis site refers to them as an organic pad. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
Axxis also list a front pad (part # 45-12940X) that is the Extended Duty pad. I haven't used this formulation. They are rated almost as dustless as the Deluxe Advanced pad by Axxis, same noise characteristics, and better pedal feel. They are described as a semi-metallic pad. I would call Dave at Zeckhausen Racing (www.zeckhausenracing.com) and discuss it with him. He doesn't list the above pads on his site, but he should be able to get them. |
JCL, The rear pads are not really the issue. The front pads however use a "new" pad shape (d1294) which is not readily available. In addition I believe the pads are larger on the 4.8i since the rotors are also larger.I would prefer matching pads front and rear. I will look into the Extended duty pads with Dave. THX for the info.

Axxis lists the same pads for the 2007-2008 E70, whether it is a 3.0 or 4.8.
I would also prefer matching pads front and rear, but I would suggest you put the Axxis pads on the front first, and solve most of the dust problem, while determining if brake balance front/rear has been negatively impacted. |

EBC has pads (part ceramic) fronts DP31938C & rears DP31451C, low dust! for the 4.8 & 35d upto 10/08, after that both X5's have a reduced rotor size to 348mm x 30mm fronts! |
i have used Kleenwheels on our X for 2 years.
its a 3.0 driven moderately. they are avail for certain OEM wheels. i have had no prob on this vehicle or a variety of german cars that ive owned over the last decade, most of which i have driven in some stressful conditions. |
