X5 in desert

Hi,

Yesterday I went to desert to test my X5 2009 4.8

It was amazing. I drove in the desert, but it seems X5 needs more enhancement in this field. :nanana:

Unfortunatly I haven't took any picture, but next time I will.

I tried to go over a dune in cross way, but could not :dunno:

I was with a Jeep SRT, but X5 was better in desert than SRT.

I think I should enhance my desert driving then take X5 again in desert to check if it is real off-road car or not.:D

Anybody has any Desert experience, could tell me more how to drive x5 in desert very well?

Guessing you're on the stock tyres, that would be my first port of call to change if you are serious about it.

I could not understand. Sorry my english is not very well.

you will need tires that have a deep tread

Standard tyres are fine. Drop the pressure to around 18psi and turn off the stability control.

I have Runflat tyres of 20". it is OK to drop the pressure of it?

about the transmission, should i change it to manual? and use number 2?

Fraser 04-27-2009 04:26 AM

The 20s are not as good as the 18s. Using "D" is okay. The secret is momentum but watch the front spoiler.

albloushi 04-27-2009 04:38 AM

Yes the front spoiler is too low.

Thanks for your advise, i will take it in consideration next time.
