PDC & Rear-View Cam

Hey guys I just placed an order for an X5 35d but I decided not to get the Technology Package. However, I'm now having second thoughts.

Basically what I need to know is first:
-How easy is it to park without PDC or does PDC make it much easier?
-I'll be trailering a boat and was wondering how effect the rear-view camera is for hooking up to the trailer and then launching the boat into the water.

I really don't care about Navi so I hope you guys can give me some input on the PDC and the camera. Let me know. I just may have to contact the dealer to update my order.

The rear view camera has a zoom on hitch capability, so that might be useful.

Personally, I'm a fan of both PDC and the rear view camera.

I like the PDC & Rear View camera (the quality could be way better on the night capabilities), it really helps in reversing. Can't comment with respect to the hitch.

you can't see out the back with confidence so the camera is definitely beneficial during the daytime (not nighttime). I've driven an SUV for 14 years and it was always hopes and prayers I didn't hit anything short when backing up.

The PDC & Rear View camera is worth getting.
It does really make parking that much easier, no second guessing on the distance you are in the front and rear.
The camera adds a decent visual of things back there including parking lines or hitch.

The Nav is quite good too. At first I really didn't like the factory style NAV/GPS but after really using it on our Disney trip we definitely like it much better than the Garmin or TomTom portable one. Before I wanted touch screen but now I can seen touch screen is a big inconvenience, slower and more of a distraction. The iDrive controller for the Nav is the perfect convenience and speed.

If nothing else, get the Tech package and Comfort package.
Oh' Running board looks nice if you like that kind of look.

my settings is camera and pdc combo. i have 20% tint at the back and i can just check it out the pdc at night (cam is not good at nighttime).. at daytime the cam works awesome.

I heard about that; how do I get the camera to zoom on the hitch?

I can see the hitch without zooming, it makes backing up to the trailer really easy.

Get it. Well worth the money for the confidence in parking and slow maneuvers. With these aids, the X is as easy to park as my e46 was (except for the size issue, of course). Plus, there is no retrofitting the pdc and camera after the fact if you have regrets.

I'm not in the car right now, but I think the rear camera has to be full screen and its on the list of options for the camera. To get to the camera options, whilst the rear view image is displayed on the screen, push the controller down.

You're right, thanks. it is the camera panning option I could not get to work earlier because it wasn't on full screen.
